Default air injection pump removal

1981 , auto,,, what is involved with air pump removal..Buddy bought car and pump is locked (belt removed)...can the rest of the system be removed and the manifolds plugged??

I'm not sure how this might affect the tuning on an '81 (I believe 81s had the computer controlled carb), but that is exactly all you have to do.

The valves on the airpump are controlled by the ECM, you will have to leave them plugged in or find the correct resistor to make the ECM think it's still there.

The ECM only controls the air switch valves it does not monitor them for proper operation so just tape off the connectors, the system will never know they're gone.
