i'm in the process of detailing my engine and found an ear on the end of the mani broken. whats the best remedy; get it welded back on, replace with new or try to find a used one. its a 71BB. wrenching on these cars is soooo much fun and having you experts here to guide me is a boost to my ego...thanks guys and gals
When both my manifolds cracked on my small block, I found replacements. (From the stockpile in the garage) In retrospect, that should have been a perfectly good excuse to get headers. If i were you, I'd look at either shorty headers, or full sized headers. Corvette owners always seem to like more power!

If you want to keep your original manifolds, take a look at this site. I cannot vouch as I never used them but I found about about them on the restoration forum.

When I bought my 71BB last year I got an extra one with it.
The prev. owner had one crack on him so he bought both sides and just replaced the one that was cracked. Which side is broken?
If you want I will check and see which side I have?
If you don't care about originality, I have one manifold that is in good shape with the AIR ports that I'd sell for a deal if you want it. I don't recall for sure what year it is from, but I can double check if you are interested.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed you have a big block, sorry!
I've had mine welded on in several places. Welding cast is a can be done but no garrantees. It has to be kept hot during and after welding so it doesn't contract too much. If it cools too fast it can crack. Mine were welded for free- a 6 pack at work. Consider what the fixed cost is compared to new or headers
I doubt you'll find anything in the junk yard since they are specific BB corvette manifolds. They do cost a bit and this might be the time as mentioned for headers. But headers are louder.
BTW I have one nut welded on for a bolt flange. Its still on there too.

My spare is the driver side!
Let me know if you are interested in it and we will work something out.
I am in the Philadelphia area. I see you are in the D.C. area so we are not that far apart.
I'm gonna guess by your name a redskins fan?
