guys,
my car has 1/4 inch spacers on, i think to do with the wheels that are on it, and the nuts don't seem to go on as far as i would like,
where is the best place to get studs just 1/4 inch longer than stock????
i've been looking at jegs and summit but they only offer real long ones,
thanks,
natt
I bought the metric studs, M12 is about .035" bigger than 7/16" and the ARP material is supposed to be stronger - I guess it will handle the abuse
The "knurl" size is .480" (I got mine at Summit), this requires drilling the existing hole a little bit bigger. I used a 15/32" drill which tranlates to 11.9mm. With a handheld drill you'll get a 12mm hole so the new stud will fit thru. 12mm is .472" so the .480" knurl is a tight press fit.
I upgraded to 1/2 inch by 3 inch. I made a drill fixture and drilled all the studs on the car. Without dust covers on they can be done on the car without a problem.
I also use through nuts so the studs stick out of the nuts and I know I have 100% engagement
I have the ARP 7/16" studs and cut them to fit. I also have wheel spacers in the front and have had no problems with them or the studs. ARP part# 100-7701
Probably not the preferred method, but I had to replace a stud on the rear of my vette. I was able to get the old one out and the new in by "dinging" the dustcover a little bit. If I remember correctly I did all this from the bottom near the parking brake adjuster.

On the drivers side it is at 9 oclock and on the passengers side at 3 oclock.
