Muffler Preference?
FYI - mine are center inlet, offset outlet. (Actually, I think the UF website lists them as center outlet, offset inlet, but the mufflers are reversible.) Anyways, my muffler guy wanted em this way to make it easier. Ask yours for his opinion on how it should be configured. I personally like the spacing that the offset outlet gives.
Also, if you have a 74-82, I really recommend the stainless tips. They look great.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I've got poor luck with "loud" exhausts.
In my Saturn, which has a 2 1/2" exhaust catback exhaust, I've gotten stopped 3 times and told that the exhaust was illegal.
However, thanks to Gov. Schwarzenegger, a law was passed that if I got a ticket for it I could actually have an exhaust noise test done to show it was under 95 db at a 15' distance (this is also the same noise limit required to race in Solo II events at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego). Coincidentally, my car just happens to be under that limit, at 91 db.

Our 1967 Jaguar, which still has the original exhaust and mufflers, sounds louder (and probably is) than my Saturn, and I got stopped once for it. I lucked out and told the cop that we'd just bought it and we were planning to replace the exhaust that weekend since we saw rust along the way. After showing him the engine under the hood, he let us off with a "nice car" and a warning.
I think, with the Vette, that I might just be pushing my luck by changing to a louder exhaust.

Anyone have any recommendations for me that'll give good performance without a louder exhaust note?
