Looking at putting true duals on my '80 this coming Saturday. I've got the stock GM Goodwrench 350 under the hood. Trying to get a general consensus on which mufflers to go with. Looking for that low rumble at idle and a good (but not an obnoxiously loud sound (ie. cop getting attention ) sound when accelerating. No resonance is preferred. I'm leaning towards the Flowmaster Delta 40 Series but I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Jay
PS For those of you who use "other" mufflers, please list those if you don't mind. Thanks!

Reason: Additional comments!
I have the Ultraflows but I don't think they are what you are looking for. They have a fairly quiet idle and cruise and only open up and become loud when you step on it.
If you don't want resonances don't get Flowmasters.
The UltraFlow is a 'straight thru' design. If that's too quiet for you you can insert a pipe (i.e. 1/4 of the muffler lenght) to make it louder. The 3" ID mufflers are the best - a 3" OD pipe fits perfectly in there
I'm going to go (relatively soon) with the Hooker Aero Chambers...441 cfm, and they aren't as loud as some of the flow masters...best of both worlds.
Plus they're a bargain at around $50 a piece.

I am wanting to hear a set of 40 Delta Flows. I would like for mine to be a little louder during accelleration. Right now at cruise, the car just goes away and all you hear is wind noise. I have shorty headers, 2 1/2 exhaust to stock style mufflers.
I'm sorry to be negative here but loud exhaust on low compression motors sounds like a UPS truck to me. Keep to the quieter versions and you'll be happy. I wish I knew what the mufflers were on my car but they sound pretty good (like a mid 60's vette). They were welded to the stock pipes when I got the car. Joe
Magnaflow's are real nice, Nice low rumble, seemed too quiet at first but after a couple weeks but now they are great, not too loud. IMO is you want loud go with the Flowmaster's.
here'w what MAD 2.5" chambered sounds like with headers, hooked up to my 383. Low quality audio/video, doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea. If you don't want LOUD, don't buy these
Last Saturday I had Dynomax ceramic headers put on and 2.5" pipes with super 40 flowmasters and I love it! There not loud and annoying, they sound awsome when your just sitting there at a stop light, and there not loud at all when you get going. There perfect to me.

Well, after doing additional research on the net, reading your comments here and talking with the exhaust man, it appears that the Flowmasters are out and Magnaflows will be going in. The best thing I found out today was the exhaust man said that if I wasn't happy with the sound he would exchange mufflers for me for no additional charge. He said he wouldn't do that for just anybody but those with nice cars like the vette he'd make an exception. Needless to say it made my day!
I'll try and post a before and after sound clip if I can figure out how to make one. Thanks for all your inputs.
