Default Drive Train Vibration

The transmission shakes while I'm reversing, why is this?

I think it might be because of the large cam... the engine doesn't like low rpms. What do you guys think?

Check condition of rubber-steel trans mount at tailshaft. Tailshaft pushes down on mount in forward ... but tries to lift off mount in reverse ... rubber could be torn ... mount separated. Check both right & left motor mounts too.

Could be a broken motor mount.

I haven't had a chance to check the trans mount yet but I reached in there and felt the rubber on the motor mounts, it feels fine.

But I noticed something else, the fan sits closer to the bottom of the shroud than it did with the old motor and the power steering pump pulley also sits much lower, closer to the frame.

Is it possible that I switched the motor mounts (RH->LH & LH->RH) or... ?

I doubt it ... but if trans mount is separated the tailshaft will rise ... causing front of motor to drop.

HMMMM? ... sound familiar?

You won't be able to feel the rubber seperation with your hand...you have to remove the two motor mount bolts jack up the engine about 1/2 inch and then look for the seperation..

Ha! I beat you to it, I just did that. And yes, the mount is broken.

Of course this happens the day after I get the new exhaust in! Now it will be so much more fun dropping the crossmember!

Took the mount out, it wasn't broken... it just felt like it because there is a hole going through it. I replaced it with the poly one anyways.

I didn't have time to take it out for a test drive but just in case the problem is still there what else could it be?

My GM tech buddy said that it might be "clutch chatter." The disc might be warped, he said that if I ride the clutch the problem should go away. Is there some procedure for this?

Also, my powersteering crank pulley has a small crack and some of the fan blades are bent from when my motor mount broke and the fan hit the shroud. Could this also be a cause?

In neutral it feels ok, a little shaky because of the cam but nothing serious from what I've been told.
