Does anyone know the code to decipher the numbers on the computer PROM...such as 519K 8226 2044 06630? I want to order a PROM made for a four speed application (as opposed to an automatic application) and I need to give the mfg a good number.
Alternatively, is there anyone w/a 1981 , w/stock 4 speed, that would give me the numbers on their PROM? Can't use a high elevation application either.
This would make a nice Christmas present!!! jim :o
I looked long and hard for this code. I even managed to find a friend of a friend that was an engineer at GM. It's not available. Hypertech bought the orignal code from GM which is how they make the custom chip. I also couldn't find anyone that had cracked it either because it was this combination of carb/ecm was only used for one year. The monte carlos that used the same carb used a different ECM supposedly
I have the chip in my hand and it reads 519K 8108 1008 6630 CK1911 It also has written on the chip Delco 5839CF. This is from my 81 vette stock 4 speed So. Calif car. Hope this helps you out.

The only info I've got at hand is that the EPROM in mine is an AM27S181ADC, though I can't remember if that was the stock one or the Hypertech replacement. Either way, it doesn't matter. The thing to do is get onto a componant supplier & they should be able to source an equivalent. I know that when I looked at our supplier catalogues I couldn't find the exact EPROM. This, according to our resident digital design engineer, is because the one I was looking for was probably a "specialist" version that was for use in the automotive industry & would have some chance of surviving massive electrical spikes (but it's in the computer, so shouldn't get any?). A supplier should be able to find a replacement easily (I did). Just get a couple & carry one as a spare (just in case the general one does go pop).
One day, when I get some time, I'll try to work out what's going on in my PROM, but finding the time to do it isn't working out easy.....
