Default Mirror Slipping

Does anyone make a replacement driver side outside mirror ('69 coupe) that doesn't get loose and "slip" out of adjustment after a short time? This is my 3rd one, and it moves every time I close the door. Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?.... Is there any way to tighten it up? A new one is OK for about 1 year (maybe) before getting loose....????

I'll give loctite a try.....apply it right at the rotating ball I'm assuming, and this will practically glue it in place, correct?

Funny you should post this today..after the entire head of my 1yr old reproduction mirror falls out of the base, and the glass falls out as it hits the floor. Total repro junk. Glass didn't break so I RTV'd it back in...and JB Welded the head back into the base.
Anyway...The glass is held in with RTV on 4 little posts. Some guys here soak the mirror head in paint thinner for a day, which loosens the RTV so the glass pops out. Then drill out the rivits from the strap that holds the mirror ball. Straighten the strap, tap the strap mount posts for screws, screw the strap back on the ball, RTV the glass posts, install glass.
OR ...you can spend the $$ and buy GM mirrors. My 33yr old drivers mirror still works & holds like new....

Thanks for the tip,... great repair. BTW, Replacement mirror glass is now available from Corvette Central for $9.95 a piece. No longer have to buy the whole mirror.
