Default Problem with Electric tachometer

I have an 81 vette. original Electric tachometer. For some reason the tach pointer is past 7 and motionless. The input signal is there. I removed the input signal but the pointer is still motionless past 7. I disconnected the battery and the pointer is still on the other side of the scale. Any Ideas?

thanks

Most of the time it is the printed circut board....gone nutz...Eclkers Zip Corvette America all cary the part....you may also want to invest in a Tach filter to stop the spikes that kill Tach's

I would normally agree, but I think you emailed me about this earlier, and I haven't had a chance to respond. Is this an LS1 engine?

If so, the LS1 tach output signal is a 5V square wave signal with a frequency half that of a standard V8. Not sure what the tach board would do with this signal, but I bet it wouldn't work correctly. Your best bet is to use an aftermarket tach.

I e-mailed you from LS1 Tech. I wasn’t sure if you came around hear as often.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I’ll give the stock tach one more go with the kit from Zip before I get an aftermarket tach.

How long did your tach work before it quit? Was it accurate?

The tach worked for about 4 days. I never verified the reading but, it seemed reasonable.
