I have an 81 vette. original Electric tachometer. For some reason the tach pointer is past 7 and motionless. The input signal is there. I removed the input signal but the pointer is still motionless past 7. I disconnected the battery and the pointer is still on the other side of the scale. Any Ideas?

Most of the time it is the printed circut board....gone nutz...Eclkers Zip Corvette America all cary the part....you may also want to invest in a Tach filter to stop the spikes that kill Tach's
I would normally agree, but I think you emailed me about this earlier, and I haven't had a chance to respond. Is this an LS1 engine?
If so, the LS1 tach output signal is a 5V square wave signal with a frequency half that of a standard V8. Not sure what the tach board would do with this signal, but I bet it wouldn't work correctly. Your best bet is to use an aftermarket tach.
