Default Help with vacuum Q...

I'm getting conflicting stories here. Some say 15 and better for sufficient vacuum for proper operation of brake booster. Having a prob. with brakes and trying process of elim. but came to a stop when I checked vacuum and came up with 12 ins.@ idle. One other stated 8 to 10 and all works just fine. Could it just be my booster went south? Was told if it did you'd have a hard pedal. Mine goes to the floor and there's brake right at the bottom. No leaks, master is full. By the way, it's a '73 with 383 stroker.

Thanks ahead for any input. Randy

Thanks, Boofers, some info pretty helpful, looking more like it COULD just be the MC.
