Default Radiator support HELP!!!

I was working under the car installing the headlight buckets and found two REALLY RUSTY pieces...

#1:Radiator support. (these rust out?)

#2 Front crossmember. (replaced)

I am ready to replace the radiator support and found that most SBC/Auto used a 26" radiator.....IS THIS CORRECT??

Thanks in advance!!

Dave

The radiator supports are year and option specific. Make sure when you order the replacement you specify the year, engine size and a/c or no a/c. Most s/b engines use the 26 in., b/b usually 27 in. G/L

I believe that there are currently 2 used ones on Ebay that you may want to check out. Mine was also totally rusted out at the bottom when I got my car. I bought a rust free one used on there and paid $175.00 for it, new they go for $350.00 or so. All I did was run over it with some sandpaper and then I primed it and then painted it with several coats of Rustoleum Professional Gloss Black Enamel. It looks brand new for half the price. I sprayed my radiator brackets also and transferred them to the new support along with new rubber cushions on the top and bottom and then I installed a brand new radiator as well.

Thanks for the tip...the one guy from New Mexico is selling a nice one but I have a source that says it's from a 77-79 non a/c car. If you look closely he bored a hole(passenger side) for the a/c hoses into the support(not good). I asked the other ebay guy if his was year & transmission correct. NO response thus far.... I found through research I need a 26" copper for a 350/auto transmission. Hopefully with NO rust please...anybody?

Thanks, Dave

I have patched a few with a MIG but it depends on how bad it is. It is a structural support that helps hold the nose up so if its really bad, replace it.

All 69-72 small blocks with either AC or Auto used the 26" support and a copper/brass radiator. LT1's and L46 also used this package.

All 69-72 big blocks used the 27.5" support.

We sell a brand new one reproduced from original GM tooling for $295
