Default Welding Control Arm ?

My lower control arm has cracked and split. I had the shop take it out. I understand these can be welded.....my question, I am taking this destroyed control arm in for welding and repair...anyone think this is a bad thing to do. I have read that others have done this with success.

my brother had a 70 lemans (which my nephew now owns)
about 10 years ago we did a complete front suspension rebuild
and found the lower control arm on the drivers side was cracked
where the rear bushing went in.

we took it to a friends shop (he builds modifieds and street stocks)
to make a long story short, he welded a sleeves in to the lower control arm, he told us he did that with all the street stocks be built because they werent strong enough from the factory.
been in there 10 years now and no problems,
wish i had taken photos but back then we didnt have digitals to work with.
so in my opinion if you cant locate a replacement it can be welded

You can weld it and at the same time add braces and gussets to make it stronger and better
Then you can have it sandblasted and powdercoated .. now remove the other control arm and repeat...

Just weld it up, no reason to waste money on a new one.
