1976 Door Locks
Am I making it out to be more than it is? Is it really a pain to get to where I could pull out the existing locks? If so, is it possible to get keys made without them having to pull the lock mechanism?
Thanks

Thanks for all the help so far.
just had to do this with a bronco we had, locksmith pulled out a key ring
full of ford keys and kept going through them until he found the right keys and then cut us a couple of sets, cost a whole $30 and saved a lot of stress

Second on a 76 the Ignition is all by itself. The doors, the glove box and the spare are all on the same key from the factory.
OK
anyway, if just above my thumb you can see the code, sorry kind of blurry, cheap camera, anyway just above my thumb you can kind of see the code, 37D3, thats what the locksmith needs. It is different for each car, so you have to bring your own.

ITS NOT A FORD???????? are you telling me that i BOUGHT A
CH CH CH CHEVY CORVETTE?????
i dont know where you live but here in NJ the locksmiths have BIG,
yeah thats right BIG key rings with lots of master keys, matter of fact
just about every key the manufacturers made.
(not as many as you would think)
you do know that the auto manufacturers only used a certain amount
of keys each year and most lock smiths have these key sets expensive
but saves them a lot of time during a lock out trip.
and yeah i do KIND of now that the ignition key is different from the glovebox/door/trunk (what do you mean theres no trunk?) keys.
a little story for you
i had a 70 cadillac and my friend had a 70 olds, we both had the same ignition keys but different door locks, and NO the tumblers werent worn down.
