Starter shimming questions
I want to check the starter on my car to make sure that it's not too tight to the flywheel.
My questions is how do you get the solenoid to pop the starter gear without turning it over? Is there a way to apply some voltage to make the solenoid pop the starter gear out to a position that I can check it against the flywheel?
How close / far should these two gears should be?
Every GM starter I have done before just bolted into place with no problem. I am going to an aftermarket mini starter and want to make sure I set the gear mesh correctly.
