Default 1971 Door Pad Removal

Hi, I'm about to remove the door pads from my car, is there any special knacks or techniques that will help me to get the window handle and the door lock off?

I would definately use one of the door clip removal tools for the window crank. They are available at most auto parts stores for $5-10. The door lock I just use a small flat bladed screwdriver to flick the clip out while pushing in on the panel to gain access to it. It's always fun to search for it when it goes flying.

I have pwr windows, so maybe the tool is necessary. The lock latch can be removed with a screwdriver. Have you thought about putting them back on? I replaced mine twice using a screwdriver. Had my '71 s paint tuned up by the folks that painted her 20+ yrs ago. Pass window balked going up. Repaired after the door panel was removed. Place the clip all the way back on to the door latch /crank handle. Push the crank/handle back over the stud.

While we are on the subject of door panels, what usually causes hand crank windows to bind when going up or down. I have to grab the glass at the top and pull or push as I crank. Do you think this problem is from bent hardware, lack of lubrication or something I'm not thinking of? Anybody solved this problem?

what about the door handle? After taking out the screws and releasing the snaps! I could not slide the panel off the door handle. Any tips?

The door handle is held with one screw on the inside of the handle.
Once the screw is out, the handle slides off.
