Once my engine is up to temprature I get what I think is lifter noise. A light ticking that rises with RPM's. You can hear it from outside the car or when you pull into a garage. It almost sounds like an exhaust leak, but it did not go away after I replaced my exhaust.
I have had this noise for some time, Is there any cure without an overhaul? Will replacing the lifters do any good.
Check your rocker nuts. Make sure they are torqued down to the correct value (can't remember what it is off the top of my head, but should be in any good manual).
Some one else had a similar post not too long ago. Anyways, might be your fuel pump. My friends 76 had a ticking noise that we thought was a lifter but after checking them and listening closely, we finally decided that the noise was coming from the fuel pump. Changed it and now everything is fine.
