Most of the time when my 454 gets warm and I let it idle I notice that the fuel filter is almost empty. If i raise the rpm's it fills again. I never gets so low that it stalls, but it hesitates until I give it gas. It only hesitates when Im taking off and barley giving it gas. I also notice that after I park and shut the engine off it will get empty, but when the car cools it will fill again. I have changed the fuel pump, but no change. What do you guys think??
mine kinda did the same thing..... but with a rusty fuel tank....
The rubber fuel line that comes off the bottom of the tank is secured to the frame where it makes a 90 Deg turn & attaches to the steal fuel line along the right frame rail... the rubber hose was kinked and hard as a rock.
I'm guessing the kinked fuel line caused enough of a restriction the pump had trouble overcoming it at low RPM's
Anyway.... I replaced that fuel line & now my filter stay's pretty full & the car runs better at lower RPM's. I'd replace that fuel line First.... UNLESS...... you hear a big Whoosh of air when you take your gas cap off after you've been driving awhile.....
