I had several things to tackle, I had rust, I had undercoating, I had more rust. I used a grinder to grind down the rust so it was smooth. I then used alot of wire brushes on my drill to get the undercoating off of the frame. That stuff went everywere. Then I used the POR 15 to paint the frame and POR 15 Chasis black on top of that for the finished product.
The rust and undercoat removal can challenge the best of us. I chose to do a frame on since the paint was mint and body panels lined up so well on my 69 " did not wanna risk the chance of disturbing anything." Burned up three drills and went thru a ton of sanding disks and wire wheels, stuck one of the wires in my eye and took 4 trips to doctor. Was wearing full goggles earplugs, gloves etc. Probably knocked some dirt in my eye when I was removing the goggles, I would spend 12-14 hours a day grinding on the frame and my face was as black as a coal miner. Grinding so much probably reduced the weight of car by 300 lbs. , some parts of frame so thin you could see daylight thru.
It's all downhill once you get past the cleaning stage I'll guarantee ya.
awesome! i envy those with the time and space to do a frame off. ( and money ) only problem i see is that the frame and body are pointed in different directions.
