Default Rear Spring Install

I am getting ready to reinstall my rear spring. It is a composite spring when I took it apart there was a thick rubber hard cushion between the spring and the rearend and there was only a very very thin what looked like a 1/8th thick strip of rubber between the spring and the rear spring mounting plate. My question is when I look in the Ecklers catalog it looks like there is a thick hard rubber cushion on both sides of the composite spring. I purchased the bolt and bushing kit for the outter sides of the springs I dont see those pads for sale in the catalog.

I might of answered my own question. When I connected up the mounting plate with the thick hard rubber pad and put a piece of thick softer rubber like was in there when I took it off of the car in the lower place like was in there the mounting plate bolts bottomed out before the plate tightened up to the spring. I think Bubba worked on my car before I owned it.

The one you have sounds like the composite spring from VB&P. When I purchased mine in '91, it came with the thick rubber "insulator" for on top of the spring and the thin one for the bottom. Ostensibly the thick rubber pad is to keep the heat of the differential from damaging the composite spring.

You might contact them with any questions you have regarding the proper installation. You can look at the list of supporting vendors in the left column and click on their icon.
