Default offset trailing arms and width

can anyone confirm that 9.5x17 will be fine with a vbp dual mount rear spring and offset arms. getting a super deal on ttII
cl205's two 17x8 with 4"bs for front and two 17x9.5 with 5"bs on rear for 1100.00 delivered. these are the grey spokes with polished rim. the vender is Jack Jenova at fastlane anyone heard of this person.

I have TTII 9.5X17 in the rear with offset trailing arms on a 73 with a 5 inch backspace. and a 46 1/2 inch long spring from VBandP. 17X8 front with 4inch backspace. I had to remove a little fiberglass on front fenders to for turning clearance, but I have stearoids updated front stearing. You may not have this problem. On the rear the tires stick out of the fenders a little, maybe half an inch. If you want it all tucked in you should research going with a 5.5 inch back space or posibly a little more. If you run in to clearance issues you can use a spacer to bring it back out a little. But I think a 5.5 inch backspace would have fit on mine judging from the room i have. Also ive read that a 18 inch rim verses 17 inch would clear the spring with out having to order the short one as i did. but my spring is the type that mounts to the rear end diff. the 46 1/2 inch length of my spring is measured by wraping the tape measure with the curve, and actualy it looks a little shorter than i actualy needed to clear but i didnt want to have to buy another if it ended up being to long. If i had it to do over again i would get 18s in the rear, and get them 18X9.5 with 5.5 inch back space. but thats just on my car, yours may be different depending on the year i guess. and the type of trailing arms and springs you use.

I've got TTIIs 17X9.5 on rear w/5.5 BS using VBP offset trailing arms. Also using 17X8s in front with VBP transverse leaf spring. You shouldn't have any problems...

This might help some. You might not even need offset arms. I'm going to trial fit my 18X10 with 5.5 backspace before putting on offset arms.

I test fit my 18x10.5s and decided that it would be cheaper to buy two more wheels, 18x9.5s, than going the offset trailing arm and narrow spring and no sway bar route. My current wheels are 16x9.5 C4 wheels with 2" spacers. I'm hoping that the 18x9.5s will work fine with 3" spacers. I kept the 18x10.5s, so that when I do all the necessary mods, I will bolt them on. I will post pictures also. I have to order tires next, unless I spend my money on Wilwood brakes. The 18x9.5s arrived last night.

Cheapest place i found for junk yard dogs is americas tire believe it or not. They dont have them on there website ( www.tires.com ) but if you go to one of the stores or call them they have a good deal on them.

I run 5 in the back and 4.5 in the front i think.

That would explain the 1/2 sticking out. 5.5 backspace seems to keep it all tucked in but real close on the inside. It is either one side or the other. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the link Mike. So Im going to get 18x10 5-120.65 with 5.5" backspacing for the rear. What back spacing and width can I fit on the front. Im thinking 17x9.5 with 4.5 bs but can anyone say if this will rub? The 9.5 might be a little too wide from what Ive seen but Id like to confirm it. I want to get the widest rim and tyre combo on there I can. Also Im looking at 275 40 18s for the rear. Can I step up to 275 45 18? Id like to keep as much rubber as I can. The roads here are pretty crappy. Im also looking for suggestions on the front rubber.

on the rear of mine i have 285 35 18s You could go with 40s probably, but u doubt 45s. I think they would stick up to high and rub the fender flare area, im not sure though, so wait until someone either confirms or denies that.
From what i read the front is about 8" wide is a good size for the front ones. More then that and you'll probably end up having to notch out the fenders.
I dont remember if i got 4 or 4.5 on the front.

Thanks Mike. Anyone else running anything wider than a 17x8" on the front?

I've got '86 8.5 x 16" with 255/50-16. Just a little rubbing of the frame behind the lower A arm.

17X8 with 4 inch backspacing works very well.
