Installed new MC, a couple brake lines, & changed to SS Calipers on my 79 recently. I'm using Dot 5 and have not fully bled the system yet, but the Brake warning light is illuminated. I'm thinking the piston in the dist. block is not centered.
Should I remove the dist. block and if so, can I manually center the piston in some way? Does this component require service?
Or, should I just try bleeding the system and see what happens? I'd rather not create extra work for myself by having to bleed the system twice.
OK - don't blame me if you take my advice. In the instances I've had the brake light come on (leaks, or replaced the line to the rear), the light went back off by itself after I bled the system.
Also, you might want to re-think using DOT 5 brake fluid.

The worst of two evils is to take an hour and bleed the brakes...IMO, that is your problem....don't re-invent the wheel...try the easy first then if it doesn't make the light go off, go to your next phase..but I think a bleed twice around all 4, will fix your problem...
