A '79 may be different but on my '74 there are 2 bolts at the rear of the bottom section of the seat. One on each side. Appear to be chrome or at least shinny. They adjust up or down to control how far back the seat back tilts. Unless the seat frame is broken then the PO put in a 2 x 4 to take up space. I took it apart and welded the broken areas and all is fine now.

I don't know how a 79 differs though.

no adjustment that i know of on the 79's. i've got one and it leans pretty far back too, but you just kinda have to hold you shoulders neck and head off the seat a little. they did this to improve head room. Unlike the c4's where you drop down in such a big trough, they did this a little on the c3's but not as much, hence the need for more headroom. So they leaned the seats back. another bad thing about this is you sit so far from the stearing wheel, even with telescopic.

I got longer grade 8 bolts and stacked about 1/2" of washers under the seat frame on both rear bolts. Tha made a big difference for my wife when she drove the car.
