Cam is good. Cam and heads are better. You can do both for under a grand. Comp Cams HE268 (not XE) is good, along with a set of Summit heads. Just ask forum member Crash80...

Whats wrong with the XE? I have no idea and am just asking. I know that my stroker 385 came with a comp XE282 cam and lifter set and am curious to know if it is any good or not. And if not.....whats wrong with it and should I switch.

Thanks for the response.

XE's are good...if they break in properly. (Do a search about wiped cam lobes.)

Mine was all built about 1000 miles ago so not sure if it is broken in yet or not. Seems to run with alot of power. It was built with vortec heads and headers with dual exhaust. I bought the car directly after it was built and only know what is on the build sheet.

You should be OK by now. It's just that I'd have a hard time recommending an XE, but feel OK about the HE since I help a friend install one a few weeks ago. I try to recommend only stuff I know and have worked with.
