80 Corvette blower motor
Is it normal for the blower motor to run when the ignition is on but all other heating & air controls off. The service manual seems to indicate it's normal although I can't imagine why. I've run my battery down a couple times because this blower motor.

This is normal. GM designed it this way starting in 74/75. There have been numerous topics on this lately. Use the search routine and you can learn some more on this subject.

If you want to be able to turn off the blower, you need to disconnect the low speed fan selection. If memory serves me correctly, this should be a brown wire at the blower relay wiring. Don't cut the wire, simply remove it from the electrical harness connector. This way you can always reinstall it. I used the open connector as a positive 12v for my electric choke on my carb.

I changed low to off a long time ago & have posted many times how to do it.
Low to Off
Disconnect connector at resistor box under hood pass. side near high blower relay. You can bend down the connector to dk. brown wire & reconnect or remove the wire from the connnector.
