I noticed poor engagement (would sound like ratcheting) using Autozone priming tool on my rebuilt small block.
Problem: the edges of the flats were dinged so that it wouldn't slide completely into the drive rod.
Solution: tapped out pin, filed/ground edges clean and re-assembled.
Took a couple minutes of medium speed w/1/2" drill for oil to first appear at rockers

Same here, guess they are all made wrong....told them (AZ) about it and they didn't care....just put it back in the box. The engagement tang was too wide to fit the pumpshaft slot. Priming tool from O'reilly's worked perfect
