me and my friend are talking suspension and new technolgies are lost on me we were talking suspension. he said air ride/air bags would be great for street and strip and i say nitrogen shocks like blistine/elebrock/kbl so on so forth now there for his camaro but if they are good maybee something i could do?
I'm not sure that I can give an educated opinion on this one but I would be real interested to know the difference in price of the two different options.
i know there has been issues with air ride setups but in my opinion i think that if an air ride setup is really designed and understood then it could work for a few area of interest...... sure the standard shocks/springs are typical and there are a variety of ratings for compression out there....probably easier to swap out a shock/coil setup but with an air system, you can add air when ever you want and adjust when you are driving....there's the ups and downs of each setup...i.e. air, you can have leaks in the system/blow a line (rare)/blow a bag(rare)...etc....... alot of the luxury cars have air ride setups that are computer controlled....... plus i have seen car shows where they do put air on muscle/street cars.....

I think it was CHP that had an article recently about one of the air ride companies doing a comparison test at a track. The air ride suspensions did quite well in real world and track conditions. Converting a Vette to an air bag suspension is not a trivial task. The front end could be done easily (but expensively) using one of the A-arm assemblies from Meyers or the soon to be available Van Steel assemblies. The rear end is a whole different ballgame. You would need to replace the whole rear suspension with a 5-link or something similar to eliminate the rear spring and shock setup.
You could do perfectly well with one of the suspension system kits from either Van Steel or VB&P and save a lot of money.

Rick B.
Rick, the air bags are for a Camaro.
I have seen one pic of an airbag setup for Vette rear.(here on the forum) It replaced the lower camber arm with a real heavy duty one and had the bag on the arm.
