Default Hurst Shifter

I got a Hurst comp. plus shifter. I'm not sure I got the right install kit. It says borg warner on the side of the trans so I am assuming I have the super t10.

The install kit was the 373 4648. is this the right one. It appears the arm for reverse is different and the column lock will not work with the shifter.

The install kit has 3 rods, so does the shifter. The other kit 373 8611 has 4 rods.

Any help would be appreciated

I have never seen a Hurst Comp + shifter that enabled the column lock. You said you have a Hurst shifter, so I assume you purchased the Hurst shift mechanism seperate from the linkage. The install kit is not meant to rebuild the original shift linkage. You would be best to call Hurst Performance to answer your question, but here is my best. 372-8611 install kit you mention has the extra short reverse rod to make it fit either the Muncie or B&W. Picture below.

Your linkage set-up will look similar to this Muncie with a Hurst Comp+ 4-speed

The Hurst shifter mounts to the trans with three mounting plate bolts and does not use the crossmember as the factory shifter. It also does not use the column lockout. You would be best to call Hurst about your application. I hope this helps. BTW, notice the extra short rod under the tranny in the above trans pic.

Thanks for the info,

I bought a new shifter and install kit. I am replacing the factory shifter. The install kit I have is the 373 4648. But I am not sure if this is the correct one.

Did you get the one with the stock looking shifter handle? If not you may want too look into it. You can get them from Corvette central.

OK...here is a link to the Hurst shifter catalog. Scroll down to the Corvette section and you will see the number 373-4648 is for a 1968 only equiped with a Muncie. The 373 8611 is for 69-up and works with a Muncie or B&W. I hope this answers you question. http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/manual_shifters.pdf

i guess the biggest problem is identifying the trans.

on the left side it says:

Borg-Warner
3C4

on the right it has the date, 10 27 75

Then on the right:

1304065903
W G Div
FpC2

I assume these numbers identify the trans, but I don't have a book to decifer them

can anyone help?

If you look at that photo, you'll see a pin on the top of the reverse lever(short rod closest to the shifter). This is a provision for the reverse lock-out cable
