81 trans & wiring question
If you are not using the computer, does the trans need any wires to be hooked up? I removed the body from the car & noticed the harness was plugged in on the driver side of the trans, but my computer system is long out of service.
What other wires can I get rid of, when not using the computer? Its a rats nest of unused plugs under my hood, but I dont want to cut anything I'll need later.

No, you don't need it, but I wouldn't cut it
The wiring to the tranny is for the lockup converter. It locks the transmission so there's no slippage in drive, and increases your gas mileage. |
If you're removing the computer, it will disable this function, but you can put in a manual switch to operate it, or there are places (bowtie overdrives) that will sell you a switch to use.
Do a search for lockup or lockup converter, there's lots of posts around on it.

go to bowtieoverdrives.com part number (comprelay700).. this is for a 700r4 but I was told it will work on a 350c.. If you have time there was a thread by ukpaul last month he explains the whole system..
