Default Interior lights problem

Ok folks here it goes, not a new problem just the next item on the fairly short list.
When i open either door the dome and floor lights don't come on but if I twist the headlight/dashlight dimmer all the way, they all light correctly
Where would you start looking for this situation?
Thanks! :chevy

I agree, If lights work thru headlight switch more then likely the door switch.

For me, exact same symptoms, my courtesy light timer was burnt out. I just removed the timer and jumped the two white wires leading to the timer box and the lights worked in a conventional manner. I can live without the delay effect. A new timer was approx $40. The timer box is orange and is located behind the glovebox liner, near the glovebox light (on the same wiring harness).

How about this. Mydash lights don't work when the headlights are on. The interior lights work with the door and headlight swicth. I replaced the headlight switch and checked the fuse panel ground. Still they do not work. My delay timer works too. If the timer is going bad, will this stop the dash light from working. All other alights work also. I have no idea what is wrong. This is driving me crazy

82 duk, delay timer should not have anything to do with dash lights. If non of them work it may be a ground problem. Get to the easiest accessable one, check the wire going to it(volt meter, test light), if you have voltage the ground the mounting ring, or make sure it has ground.
