can anybody give me an idea of the value of a 1972 roadster, 83,000 original owner texas miles, docs, rust free, never hit, 4spd,a/c p/s,p/b,numbers matching, good chrome and stainless. needs paint, interior, top and minor mechanical work. Owner is looking for 9 grand. What do you think? Also what do you think it will be worth after it is fixed up?
You gotta see it/ drive it and examine it closely before making any accurate evaluation. Sounds a little cheap for a solid driver. sounds a little expensive for a running project car. On Ebay very nice drivers go for around $15k.
What eng? 350-200hp, LT1, 454?
paint, interior, top, mechanicals could end up $7-$10K extra depending on exactly what you need. Also how are the suspensions?
If there's no rust and the paint is good for a driver it sounds decent. If you plan on flipping it then you may have to wait for a first time buyer as any experienced vette buyer will go over the car top to bottom. I spend about 2 hours looking at a car and find most are overpriced for the work they need.

If it's a genuine car with solid frame and good mechanicals $9k is a bargain. Buy it before I get down there and take it off his hands!
I think $15 to $17k would be the right money for a car with original 350, providing it's all very sound. If you 'fix it up' well you could be looking at a $20k plus car.
A big block would be worth a fair bit more.
Something you might want to investigate is whether it would qualify as an NCRS 'Survivor'. That could put the value up higher still.
