My '75 has one bad headlight actuator and my question is can they be changed without removing the hood? Years ago I replaced a pair on a '73 and I just couldn't get them out without removing the hood. However, this was before discovering the forum and I just wanted to check with you guys before doing it again. By the way, thanks to all who helped me diagnose my headlight problem!
you can get them out without taking off the hood. I did mine that way(76 coupe). you have to undo the bolts. close the hood and then finesse it into the center, reopen the hood(carefully) and finesse the acutator out. I usually wrap it in a towel to avoid scratches. It can be done though.
Strange because I got them out of my 73 without taking the hood off. The trick is once you get them unbolted you have to close the hood then reach up from underneath and plop them into the center part of the compartment one at a time, put one in the center then slowly open the hood and there is enough room to get the actuator out. I put a towel over the hood just in case but was able to change both of them without removing the hood.
