water pump question

what water pump is used on a 78 corvette?
long snout short snout?????

friend of mine has a few available and asked me what
style was used.

Actually, our Vette's water pumps are neither short or long, they'll kinda in between. Neither will allow the belts to line up correctly. Therefore you'll have to use a Vette specific pump.

What if you used "normal" SBC crank pully etc, it wouldn't matter then right? Or is that the problem, you can't use normal SBC pulleys?

I believe that's only true of early 70's and up - previous are "short".

Marshrat where exactly did you come up with this information?

from what i have been able to find out on the auto parts sites
the pump used on the 78 is a short pump as the guys above stated.
short or long is actually where the pump itself bolts to the block
