I'm going mobile so I can weather the economy for a few months so I'm doing without internet. I might just live in my vette for that time...ahhh, spending every waking minute in my vette, and all my sleeping minutes too...this might be a good thing!
It's been great hanging out with all of you. There's many people here with different ideas and such, but the one glue that keep us hanging out here is our love of Stingrays.
In the voice of Arnold Schwartzenegger, "I'll be back."
Netzero would be cool, the only problem is a phone...I won't have one in my "motor home". I actually bought a modem for my cell phone a few years ago, but the fastest it will go is 14.4Kb/s, but usually it will only try to connect at half that and there is no internet service I know of that supports that slow of a connection. I was going to buy a Riccochet wireless modem with a 56Kb/s always on connection, but Metricom http://www.Metricom.com just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and shut down their network, and will shut down their email service Aug 8th, and auction their entire company assets on Aug 16th.
I'll still have email on my cell phone, though it's restricted to 128 bytes per message...just enough for a name, phone number & extension and a couple of sentences so I can call them back...and if they don't call them back then at least I can email them back and ask for their phone #.
Believe me, if there was a way to have an internet connection in my "motor home" then I would have it.
Take care! Stop in at an "internet cafe", airline terminals, your local library.... internet access opportunities are everywhere! You will need a fix soon.... you can't just go "cold turkey"!! MJ
You gotta do what you gotta do. But at least you'll still have the vette. Best of luck, and do check in from time to time if the opportunity avails itself to you.
