Got the 454 running for the first time in two years today. Fired right up and sounds healthy, but it is leaking gas out the two small holes in the top of the fuel pump. Is the this a sign of a bad diaphram or could I have the feed and return line reversed on the pump?
Got a new pump..question on the hoses. Which line goes to the screw in fitting on the pump.....the carb, the return, or the gas supply line?. I'm going to assume the smaller of the 3 fittings is for the return?
Thanks it's been off fo years and just want to make sure I had it hooked up right.
The pump diaphram was the culprit.....amazing how stuff goes just goes bad. I drove that car home two years ago and pulled it apart...pump wasn't leaking then. Must have dried out sitting on the shelf.............
Mine was seaping on my 70 ls5 also. I replaced it but ran in to the problem of gas just kept coming out of the feed line like it was under pressure. Is this normal? Never had this happen on the few othere ones I have changed.
