My plans to move to Vancouver, BC have been bumped up to next Fall. I want to drop a 502 in my '79 and was wondering if this will possible with Canadian emissions laws and whatnot. If not, at least I'll be out of California :seeya
Each province has its own emissions laws. Here in Ontario I don't think you'd be exempt with a '79. The '75 is exempt from testing in Ontario. But for B.C. you'll have to get a comment from someone out there.
This is a complex question . In Ontario, a vehicle older than 20 years is exempt from the Drive Clean Program of the Provincial Ontario Government: no emissions testing for 1980 and prior vehicles. But, federal government laws say the cat con must be in place if it was there when the car was manufactured. I was "peeked at" :( at a cruise night last year for a cat con by Police. Yes, I have one :blueangel:. I have checked the web site for BC but it does not say a great deal. It does say that an emission pass is necessary before you can get insurance. Hopefully someone form that Province can give you guidance.
If you are going to be in Vacouver or the lower mainland--there is quite strict emissions testing. Anywhere else in the province there is no emissions testing yet.

:( Awww... thanks for the information, though! I like clean air, too. And even though I would love to be exempt from this, I agree that it's a good thing and quite worth it. :yesnod: Thanks!
