Can any one on this forum build the lemans L-88 headlight
brakets and plexiglass covers for them? Also where can I find a lemans locking gas cap for the corvette. Thanks a bunch.
Yes, yellow73sob! I saw that too and I knew that I had to have it. This way I can prove my speed by taking a photo of the speedometer. Ah..........what am I thinking? You guys will say I used a magnet or something.
This is what I'm looking for. Can you show on how you made those buckets(or exlpain how you did it.) How did you fasten the covers to the car (screw, tape velcro?)
DO a search theres a diagram showing the measurements.I used aluminum blanks and cut and bent them then attached my original headlight retainers andlights to it,the covers imade brackets for each lower corner and one in the middle. Some guys have used dzes buttons to hold them in place.Let me see if i can find a pic of the bucket i made.
How are part of the covers clear while the back is painted the same as the car, liverpool? That is the look that I prefer. Are your covers partially painted or is there and additional cover that goes on top of the lexan?
For the gas cap, get a filler neck from a C2, theyre longer and I think bolt right up. Then just weld a flange onto it. ( I made my own neck out of an aluminum tube )
I made the flange first and mounted it to the gas cap. Then put it on the car to determine the perfect alignment. Once that was done I could weld the flange onto the filler neck.
It's a little tricky since the parts you want to weld are buried, but it can be done.
My buckets look just like Pat's, I used some close-up pics he sent me and tried to make them as close as possible. I haven't done my covers yet, I ran out of good weather, will do em in the spring.
Here's a link to a diagram with dimensions on it. You should make a set out of cardboard first and test fit/modify as needed, different years will fit differently and need different shapes in front where the bumper braces are.
