I read that the Richmond Gears (which I have, 3.73:1) are noisy (mine aren't) because they are designed more towards strength than quieter designs are. They indicate right up front that they will make noise like gtr1999 stated. You might get lucky like I did but not likely.
what does a ring set cost say for 3.73 or something like that and does the clutch pak get reused or is that specific to the gear set?
Bob, When I sell gear sets they cost $275 for Tom's. Those are the only ones I work with, because I put my name on the job when it's done. Posi clutches are separate. The kit I put together is now $170.Clutches can be reused if they are not undersize, but for the cost I'd use new solids. The clutches are all the same,no difference for gear sets.
If you have questions PM and I'll go over them.

Noise will vary depneding on RPM,the gears, setup method, etc Perfromance gears are cut differently to produce a stronger gear but the trade off is gear whine. If you run loud exhaust then you might not hear it, if you run stock exhaust you will hear it. For the cost comparision of the gears and difference in RPM w/373 vs 390 it wasn't worth it to me.
It would be interesting to see the % of people that have no noise with these gears.
