It seemed like everything I touched today turned out bad. I took the drive shaft out to work on the parking brake cable and messed up two u-joints trying to get it reinstalled. It is still laying on the bench. I did get the e-brake cable repositioned so it doesn't hit the transmission yoke so I guess I did get something done. I bought a one piece fel-pro pan gasket but didn't get the pan off either for fooling with the driveshaft all day and didn't get the steering column back in either. Pretty much wasted the whole day screwing everything up. Maybe tomorrow will be better! Hope everyone elses projects went better than mine!

I have not even looked at my car since the dash/brake pedal episode, and I have a forum member waiting for it. I'm burned out
for the moment As for the pedal, I'll send it monday. You know who you are
Went out to the barn today to throw a new master cylinder on the white 79. Bench bled it, put it on and then pulled the drivers side wheels to do just a partial pressure bleed as I had just flushed the whole system a couple weeks ago. Left rear caliper leaking . Ended up pulling 3 original calipers to replace them(4th is already SS sleeved).
At least, while I got the rear calipers off, decided to fix a Bubbaism. Someone pulled the rotors, I think chasing a sqeaky brake problem, and put the rotors back on blocking off the parking brake access holes. They also backed off the adjusters all the way. Put glue on the back of a new set of rear pads too, that's why I think they were fighting a noisy brake. Adjusted the parking brakes so now they work .
Was out there all afternoon, thought I'd be out an hour .

Worked on fuel lines again today. Previously ran 10AN and 8AN braided lines underneath car while tucking them thru fender and frame. Once they were ran it became apparent that I didn't want to go thru re-plumbing them just to get the line out to cut for length. I tried cut off wheels, hack-saws, saws-alls, chop saws etc. in the past but a friend loaned his Klein Cat # 63041 shears. They cut precisely with almost no frays of the line and the fittings can be pushed on with a little WD-40
For you guys who do this much they are the STUFF!
Good Morning!
I guess I didn't have such a bad day after all! Today is a new day and hopefully a better one. Had a great breakfast, plenty of protein, a few carbs, and a cup of joe; I'm ready to tackle it again! Thanks for the support!

I walked out in the garage today, but that was about it. I guess tomorrow I will try a little harder to get something done.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I do this all the time. I just have not been able to get motivated to work on the vette this fall/winter. Just got my 17" wheels on and still have not taken it out for a drive. What's up with that.

A new word "Bubbaism". Just a matter of time before it's in the dictionary.
I like "Bubbaism" it fits a lot of what we run into on our cars. Some day I'm sure someone will say about my car; look what some Bubba did to this car, this isn't factory exhausts, this isn't a factory transmission, this car didn't come with electric fans on the radiator!
When we are having a bad day, the hardest thing to do is walk away. But sometimes it is the bet thing to do!

Just did a search for use of the word "Bubbaism" on this forum. Looks like it was used a couple of months ago on the C1-C2 forum. Now on the C3. Edit: a Google search of the forum puts first use at 2002 by Paul67 on the C3 forum.
Hmmmm, not used on C4 or C5. Bubba isn't there or the C4-5 guys are not willing to acknowledge his existence.

yeah i've had days like that.....now after we do three things onthe car that went perfectly in one night we STOP....cause it can't get any better then that
MEGLADON,
The engine looks great! I know you can't wait to get it on the road! I did manage to get my u-joint in the yoke today, but that was all. I will regroup and install the driveshaft tomorrow night and start on the steering column. The car WILL be on the ground by the coming weekend to see what bugs might be lurking!

Bernie we all have bad days. Days where nothing seems to be comming together. I have had two failures today. I was about to give up when my neighbour showed up and solved one of my problems.
Another day and your luck will improve. Screwing up universals is not hard, a simple needle falling out of place will do it. Lots of grease to hold them in place and bring the X to the cap, not the cap to the X.
