i need to know how you like your trickflow heads i have almost the same motor combo..11.1 pistons and almost same cam but how is it with compression with your 64cc heads any pinging? At 895 a set thats not bad price ...
Overall, I'm very pleased with the price, quality and performance of the Trick Flows and recommend them highly. You cannot beat the price for fully equipped (hardened seats, bronze guides, screw-in studs, guideplates, etc.)195cc CNC aluminum heads anywhere. Also, I like the ability to upgrade valve spring size (seat diameter) without machining the heads.
Although, I do have some minor pinging at WOT, the chambers are identical in size to the stock 186 heads, so I assume a rebuilt set of the stockers on the rebuilt short block would have had the same issues. I have not nailed down my total timing and curve yet so thats probably the main culprit not the chamber volume. Also I live in a very HOT and humid region so the air charge is probably not the coolest.
Some advice if your cam is close to or over .500 lift, measure the distance between the valve retainer and seal prior to bolting on the heads. Although, the literature says the springs will handle up to .520 lift, there was less than .500 in. between my retainers and the seals. My machinist had to machine a small portion of underside inner portion of the retainer to get the proper clearance.
Just read your other post and see your cam has .450 lift so you can disregard my warning on retainer to seal clearance. If you're concerned with pinging, as another poster suggested, use a thicker head gasket and the TFS heads should work without issues.
