Default Had a Good Evening!

After having a terrible day last weekend, tonight made up for it all. First, I got the driveshaft installed. It clears the park brake cable after moving the pulley wheel from the inside of its bracket to the left side of the bracket. Next, a couple days ago I had disconnected the clutch linkage from the pedal to adjust a little play out of it. Tonight, I thought I would reattach it to see how much play I needed to take out. Evidently, by taking the tension off the master cylinder rod, gravity allowed more fluid to fill the cylinder and there is no play in the system at all now; plenty of pressure all thru the travel of the clutch pedal and plenty of fork travel.
If I can have one more good night installing the steering column and double checking all my work, I will be driving it on the next decent day! This project isn't quite done but I will definately know how well it works soon!

Sounds like you are ready to drop the clutch on it and burn some rubber. Keep up the good work Bernie.

Great! Bernie, hydraulic clutches are basically self adjusting, if there is play then you need to bleed it more. But it sounds like yours is ok now. The linkage adjustment will just raise and lower the pedal for additional travel. Check that your clutch dis-engages well before the pedal reaches the floor. If not, you will need to adjust the linkage. My clutch pedal needed to be about 1.5" higher than the brake pedal...about the same as others that I have seen.

Eddie and Doug,
My clutch pedal is about 1 1/2 inches higher than the brake; it rests against its stop on the bracket. I have plans to install the steering column tonight and check all my vaccuum and electrical conections, and torques on all the hardware I've touched. I should have a maiden drive in the "new" car by this weekend if we have decent weather. I still have to install exhausts and a boot for the tunnel, but I can do that after the test drive!
