Default Rear spring

Aside from the obvious, what's the difference between a 7 leaf and a 9 leaf spring? My '69 has a 9 leaf, but I think someone just added 2 leafs to a 7. I've been looking around and found both the 7 and 9, but can't find any info about the different applications.

Not entirely sure, but I believe the 9 leaf spring was the standard spring, and the 7 leaf spring was used for the optional suspension available in the 70's. Gymkhana? comes to mind.

9 is standard, 7 is higher rate & used in Hi Perf. sus. option like FE-7.

It has the Gymkhana front springs, but someone has definately added 2 leafs to a 7 leaf spring. You can tell because they're wider and have been ground down in the middle to clear the mounting bolts.
