I was reading an article in Corvette Enthusiast last night about what to do in that situation. It said if the motor turns freely then the thing to do is drain all the fluids and change the filter. Then disable the ignition and turn the motor over with the starter a dozen times or so to get all the components lubed. Then it's compression check time. If all the cylinders are in the same range you can move on to hooking up the ignition and try to get it to start.
I realize you're a long way away from the car, but thought that might be useful info.

What are you buying? A car or just the engine? Quite literally in reference to just the engine, "it rotates" could be taken to mean that it's on an engine stand and the engine block does rotate.
Is this the Mako Shark II replica for sale on Ebay? The car looks OK (needs some work) but who knows what is going on inside the motor. Just because the motor rotates doesn't mean it runs.
FYI, there is some discussion of this car on a thread located at makoshark2.com. For a custom type car, I think I would make my bid contingent on an inspection or inspect before bidding. There could be some custom pieces that can't be located and will need to be fabbed. Guys on makoshark2.com think that it is pretty well complete though.

and just cause it rotates doesn't mean anything relative to bearings, piston rings, cracked water jackets, worn cam lobes etc etc etc.....rotating is good but a trashed engine can still rotate
I agree....it only says nothing has seized up to the point where it won't rotate, it says nothing about the engine conditions, bearings could be shot, big ends stretched, bores shot..no compression..al kind of nastyness. Without hearing and seeing actually running you are taking a gamble if you don't inspect the internals.

...unless your only paying 100 bucks for it all, then you (might) win...
