Default 383 ?

local machine shop said they did not want to make my L82 into a 383 because they had to notch the block is that correct?

Yes that is correct. It is notched in order for the longer stroke. Not a real big deal to do though. Most machine shopd will do this with no problem.

Notching or clearancing the block is work. Work = $$money, I guess they have enough money and don't need the work ?

A machine shop that doesn't want to make money is not a very good machine shop. Find a new one. If you have a local radio show that is about automotive items, email that person. They usually know all the good shops in your area and will happily send them business. If you do this be sure to mention it to the machine shop. Just good business all the way around.

Post a bulletin asking for good machine shops in your area.

What that means to me, is that they are NOT into modifications and/or hot rods. It is as elementary as boring a motor these days.
