I had 17X8 all around and just received my 18X10 wheels for the rear today. There are a couple of cars here that have the 17 18 combo also. I will take a pictures of the combo when I get it done.

What do you have to do to put the 18 in back and 17 in front? Do you have to make major modifications?

It is not the diameter that makes the mods needed it is the width. I am running a 18X10 and have to remove the sway bar and have a shorter spring made. I am relocating the ebrake bracket but am using the stock trailing arm.

With the 18x10,will you use the fender flares or will your tires stick out without the use of the offset trailing arm?

A 18X10 with a 5.5 backsacing is right at the edge of the fender. I will not need flares and the tire will fit flush with the fender.

Default GOOD! Ordering Centerline 18x8 or x 9.5" *this week*!!

I *finally* have the means to get my heap back together and am putting on some decent wheels and tires to complement the latest temporary replacement engine and the GV which already got it to just under 170 three times before the last one died.

I am waiting a little on comments from a friend on what she thinks a good style is (I could care less really) but I am ordering the some of the Centerline all forged numbers. You get to spec the offset on all of them for no charge and I know the 18x8" fit better even than the 17x8", but do the 18x 9.5"?

I would like to use those rims to use 265/40 YR18 Pilots which are 26.3" diameter and 10.7" section (and the heaviest load rating) - they spec 9" rims.

If I'm "stuck" with the 8" I can only use the 245/40's, which are only 25.7" and 9.8".

Or, are they being picky on recommending 9" for those tires? Can you put those on 8" rims safely? (I push this car very, very hard with lots of miles on all sorts of roads.) The diameter, not the section, is my big concern - I want maximum top speed for minimum RPM.

I have the complete VBP front and rear suspension and no offset trailing arms and most certainly do not wish to remove the sway bars.
The brakes are aftermarket, but regular dimensions. Honestly, since the nose and tail are '82's I do not know the wheel wells aren't also (I did not do this - it came that way.)

Mine is a '75 with no flares yet, although I will put them on later for considerably wider meats, when I have a real engine.

Also, what offset should I ask for from Centerline?

These are one type I am considering:

Thanks for any advice...

I can't WAIT to have her back on the road and half way COMPLETE!!!

Reagrding fitment of bigger width rims onto C3's I actually started a thread a few days ago about Torq Thrust II's fitment, but it covers most of the fitment issues you run into when going BIG.

I basically went through the various threads and compiled most of what was said re fitting bigger rims (mainly TTII's) to C3's, because I am about to buy a set and want to make the right choice as I am in Australia and don't want to get the wrong sizes.

Here is the thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...325&forum_id=3
