I removed the rear bumpers from my 73 coupe and on the left side the holes in the body that the bumper mounting bolt goes through has what I believe is a plastic bushing. The left side does not although there has been body work done in this area at some time in the past. Question is should this plastic bushing be in all the bumper mounting holes and if so where can they be purchased.

I want to say that I am continualy amazed at the wealth knowledge on this forum. God bless you guys you have saved me a ton of money and aggravation over the past three years.

The Assembly Manual shows a bushing on the outer (side) holes, but nothing on the rear (back) holes. For the outer (side) holes, I used some extra strut rod bushings from my '62. They fit into the hole perfectly and were just the right ID for the bumper bolt. I cut them down to +/- 1/2" long I think. Also, for the rear bolts, since I just had my body stripped, painted and sanded etc, I couldn't bear the thought of mounting the bumpers directly to the painted surface, so I used rubber 1/2" hose gaskets as a separator. Can't see them when they are compressed.

Mine is the same bushing is only on the outside not at the rear holes. Does anyone have photos of the original.
