Default Modified sugar scoops.....

As most of you all know, the operating headlights are a super PIA on these sharks, and all cars having them, for that matter, prone to failre all the time, then there is wintertime snow and ice....not an issue here in Florida obviously, but I do have memories....

So one of the first, if not THE first products Ecklers came up with was the early square headlights mounted in fiberglass trays looking like sugar scoops... setting way to the rear of the stock opening and sometimes having a plexi cover to fair in the lines....

well I was tired of the old looking operating headlights, and tires of the sugar scoop look, way to dated....

so...I have no pix yet, and they are not completely finalized yet...but the first version prototype is done, I have used the later Camaro headlights....6x2.5 inch square glass...mounted on a simple frame of wood and plastic, then moved further forward by about 3 inches, and closer together for better horizontal dispersion....
they are up and lit and work fine...

the bulbs are numbered H 4351 for lo beam, there is a companion high beam also...

so to finish off, I am going to duplicate the mounts out of PVC about 1.5x3/4 and stainless screwed and glued together, once the proof of my project is finalised....
then to mod the large cutouts on the car body by narrowing the cutout from the rear, down to the front by about 50%, making the F-B measurement about 5" instead of the stock 10"....

Now on the cost of bulbs..these damn suckers are EX PEN SIVE....
25 bux ea even at WalMart....

I had two bad lo beams from my junkyard raid some years ago...and so I found a way I HOPE..to re do the lights, take the original glass and pliars and twist off the bulb mounting, they are just glued on the rear, plastic bulb and base, epoxy on to the glass, so I plan on finding maybe some ten bux halogen replacement bulb to glue in place for it...

They were all messed up, and I finally figger out too heavy anyway, the new concept should weight about 20% of the operating concept...so it's a matter of making an insert and glassing it in over the assy's...

going to use that linear actuator in the wiper position to get rid of that stupid/silly canister, for a change...still desperately looking for a hydroboost unit also...rare as hen's teeth...high demand, I suppose...
