Spedo. gear question
What number of spedo. gear teeth will make my speedometer close to accurate as possible? Don't have my stock gear anymore. Running 255-60-15 in back, 245-60's in front. L48/4spd. Thanks!

You need to tell us more so we are able to make the calculation. Need to know the rear axle ratio and the number of teeth on the drive gear. The drive gear is the smaller gear that remains inside the transmission when you pull out the speedo housing and driven gear. We can tell you how many teeth it has by the colour as well if you can't count the number of teeth on this gear.

Don't know the rear axle ratio. When I bought the car it still had the stock gear in it with 265-50-15 around it. I replaced it with a spedo gear to work with this tire size. Moved up to the above sizes and am starting at zero again. From what I remember the stock gear I removed prior was either natural (18) or brown (19). Think maybe I should start with a 18 and work from there? Was looking to see if I could save a little time and money sorting this out. Apprecieate any input.

This site will help with the calculation. www.tciauto.com Click on "technical info". then click on "speedo gears". There is a calculator for determining the correct driven gear but to use it the rear gear ratio must first be determined. Also they give the part numbers for the different drive and driven gears.
