If you stand behind my car a 74 coupe, the windshield on the drivers side looks about 1 1/2" to high. I know the car has been wrecked but the frame has been fixed. I removed the body from the frame and it still looks like the body is twisted or the windshield frame is bent. Anybody have any ideas on determining what the problem is ? I have also considered buying another body to replace this one with , what other years would be a good canidate? I know I would have to swap bumpers is there anything else?
Place the body on stands with the help of a watergauge so that you can take some serious measurements.
Then measure carefully both sides of the body and compare them.
In my opinion the fiberglass body isn´t able to twist.
It´s too brittle :yesnod:
So I guess your windshield frame is bent.
I´m currently restoring my 76 (body off) and saw many critical places where rust destroid the windshieldframe.
Especially under the fiberglass on the left and right side at the bottom of the frame. You´ll have to cut away the fiberglass to fix it. So did I....
Because these areas are highly stressed maybe there your bent is coming from..
Again, I can only say take some measurements with the help of a watergauge.
Good luck, Markus
