I was thinking up upgrading all the gauges in my 76'. I was looking at the Phantom gauges from Autometer. My interior is black, so I think it would offer a nice contrast. My question is what size exactly are the speedo and the tach, and what size are the rest of the cluster(oil, fuel, water, volt, etc). I've also heard that all the guages are electrical. Is this true? Including the speedo? I'm not so sure about that.
The speedo and tach are 5" gauges, the center console gauges are 2 1/8"
the final look would be like this:
better yet you can get basic instructions and wiring diagrams on my web page. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/fauxrs/gauge.htm
Many of Autometer's guages are electrical, but they do make a number that are mechanical with a 240 degree or so sweep. Tach's & speedo's come in 31/2" and 5", with the others at 21/16" and 25/8".
All total, we used two 5" guages (speedo & tach), and eight 25/8" guages, but had to modify and fabricate the panel and cluster.
