71 not starting, but everything else works
I have a 71 base coupe. I have had this car for about a year and it has always started everytime until a month ago. At first it sounds like it wants to start for about a second, then nothing. If I try again it will just make a clicking noise. The third time (and every other time afterwards) I try nothing happens. I do hear a very very quiet hissing noise from the battery when I turn the key. Everything else in the car works fine. If I jump it I can get it started. After jumping it will start for about a day, then it all happens again. I was thinking it could be a battery problem, but the battery is only a few months old. At first I thought it might be the clock draining the battery, but I disconnected the battery for two days after I charged it and when I reconnected it, I had the same problem. Any thoughts before I have to give in and bring it to the mechanic?

I would say you have a dead cell in the battery. Not uncommon for a fairly new battery to go bad. Take it to a local battery warehouse or a parts store that will put a load test on it.
Check over the cable connections first, particularly the ground.
